The Newfoundland Dog Club of Canada Fundraiser

Sometimes hilarious and sometimes heart wrenching (but always heart warming), this 211 page soft cover book  should be on every Newf lover’s shelf.

Published in 1998, this delightful children's story is about Sailor, a Newf who's afraid of the water.

Sailor's six year old boy tries to help him overcome his fear without success.

But then a situation arises that changes everything, and  Sailor transforms from a hangashore into a town hero. 

This appealing book would make a wonderful addition to any child's library.

A great adventure story, this fictionalized biography is based upon the journals of Lewis and Clark, their team, and Seaman, a 150 pound Newfoundland dog. 

Follow along as the expedition travels west to the Pacific Ocean and back, enduring hardships and overcoming many obstacles along the way.

A tear jerking tale that takes place on Christmas Eve.  The Angel of Mill Street is none other than a big, black dog who watches over Uncle Ambrose as he struggles through a terrible storm to make it home to his family.

Beautifully written and illustrated, and a Christmas classic for young and old alike.

We have all had a situation in life where a friend, family member or an acquaintance are grieving the loss of a beloved pet and family member. Sometimes words just aren’t enough to help console them or we might fall short of even having the words to share.  I have always thought my words could possibly pass quickly and not help provide a lasting level of comfort and peace.

For me I have always wished that I could give something more than words and in some way put a Band-Aid on a broken heart.  I am hoping with this new endeavor it could possibly do that. This small token will be with them far longer than words and hopefully will provide some comfort  during the healing process.

By giving one of these mementos, I am hopeful it will not only provide a positive feeling to the recipient, but also create a good feeling that you, as the giver, have touched the person in a long lasting way.

Handmade by Matthew Ferron, this wooden sleigh pulled by a Newfoundland dog is actually an incense burner.  Along the side rails of the sleigh, in both English and French is written: "Love is a Newfoundland". 

This original piece measures approximately 21" long and 5" tall and comes with two packages of incense: Tropical Vanilla and Sandalwood.

Included in this auction item is a deck of playing cards which feature a Newf standing on the rocky shores of Newfoundland.

Handmade by Judy Ferguson, this all-Canadian red and white drool bib will fit an adult Newf.  Made out of cotton, the bib is machine washable and measures approximately 11-1/4" wide and 13" long with 15" long ties.

Completing this appealing combo is a 13 piece wooden Newf puzzle handmade by Beverly Lummis and measuring approximately 8" from nose to tail and 6" high.

Here's a rare opportunity to own Page 221 of the February 2, 1886 issue of "Harper's Young People"!

This page is entitled "Reggie, Out With His Sleigh Tandem, Hunts A Hare" drawn by Gray-Parker and features the adventures of Castor and Pollux, the Newfoundlands.

Harper's Young People was an American children's magazine published by Harper & Brothers between 1879 and 1899. 

This page measures 11" x 7-3/4", is in excellent condition and would be a great collector's item and a wonderful piece to frame.

D. R. Laird is an Ontario artist who is well known for his images of children playing hockey and nostalgic rural scenes, many of which feature dogs and often Newfoundlands.
